Course 1: Journey to Gouache

Explore colorful, expressive landscapes and glowing elements — from skies and trees to lanterns, fireworks, and neon lights — through a guided, playful journey in gouache! 

Module 1 – Introduction

In this opening module, you’ll get to know gouache as a medium, understand its unique qualities compared to other paints, and learn how to prepare your materials. You’ll also discover how to properly store and maintain your paints and paper, laying a strong foundation before you begin painting.

Module 2 – Basics of Gouache

Here, you’ll build essential skills for working with gouache: basic color mixing, brush techniques, fundamental gouache methods, creating a value scale, and understanding the difference between warm and cool colors. This module sets the groundwork for confidently controlling the medium.

Module 3 – Painting Elements

With the basics covered, you’ll start applying them to paint key elements of landscapes: skies and clouds, sunsets, grass, trees, rocks, and simple natural scenes. The module concludes with a larger exercise — creating a complete landscape painting that combines everything you’ve learned so far.

Module 4 – Color, Light & Atmospheric Perspective

This module dives deeper into color and light. You’ll learn to create atmospheric perspective with value and color, mix natural greens, and explore the principles of color harmony. Through practical exercises, you’ll study how landscapes change throughout the day — morning, noon, sunset, and night — and translate that into rich, expressive paintings.

Module 5 – Glowing Elements in Gouache

The final module focuses on glowing and luminous effects — a highlight of painting landscapes with gouache. You’ll experiment with painting fire, lanterns, fireworks, neon lights, cityscapes at night, and other dazzling light effects. This is your chance to play, explore, and bring vibrant energy to your artwork.

Course 2: Finding Joy In Color

Unlike fast-paced or overly technical art courses, this class is about reconnecting with creativity in a gentle way. The goal is not to impress, but to feel comfortable, curious, and joyful while painting.

Module 1 – Introduction & Materials

You’ll get familiar with the course, the learning approach, and the materials used. We’ll explore acrylic markers, paper choices, and simple tools, along with tips for setting up a comfortable workspace.

Module 2 – Acrylic Marker Basics

This module covers essential techniques such as marker control, blending, layering, and color mixing. These foundational skills will be used throughout the entire course.

Module 3 – Landscape Painting

You’ll learn how to paint skies, clouds, sunsets, trees, grass, rocks, mountains, and water. We’ll then combine these elements into full landscape paintings through guided practice.

Module 4 – Flowers & Plants

You’ll explore flower and leaf structures, then practice painting a variety of flowers and plants, from daisies and roses to flowering bushes and trees..

Module 5 – Fruits & Vegetables

This module focuses on color harmony and observation through painting colorful fruits and vegetables. We’ll analyze a tomato in depth, then apply color principles across many different subjects. Each lesson is designed to feel manageable, calm, and encouraging.
